Job Description

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is vested with the responsibility of maintaining and developing trunk and regional road networks in Tanzania Mainland. It is also responsible for conducting Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales.

The Regional Manager TANROADS Singida on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer TANROADS is looking for suitably qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacant positions available for Weighbridge Shift In charges, Weighbridge Operators, Sociologist, Accounts Assistants, Driver and Office Assistant as follows;

POSITION TITLE: SOCIOLOGIST (l POST)

Scope of position

The successful candidate should be prepared to work for considerable lengths of time when required under minimal supervision.

Key qualifications

Holders of degree in Social Science or Advanced Diploma in Community Development Affairs or equivalent from recognized Institution.

Age: Not above 35 years;

Must be Computer literate; and

Must be fluent in English and Swahili languages.

Duties and Responsibilities

Follow up consultants assessing social impacts of projects;

Coordinating with community leadership with a view to motivating local residents and incorporating their effort in matters relating to maintenance and development of roads;

Participating in and Advising the Agency on Social Impact Assessments and eventual resettlement plans connected to road projects;

Advising the Management on community awareness and participation towards the maintenance and development of better roads for the benefit of respective communities;

Developing the Agency’s social relations and strategies pertaining to the road sector policies;

Follow up consultants assessing social impacts of project; and

To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

In addition to the professional qualifications requirements outlined in the position, candidates to assume the positions must be trustworthy, responsible, reliable, accountable and with a high degree of integrity.

Terms and Conditions of Service

Appointment will be on Contract Terms; renewable subject to satisfactory performance;

The salary for the post is according to TANROADS Scales.
